Van Buren Township has been bestowed with the beauty of Belleville Lake. This 1,270-Acre Lake has over 25 Miles of shoreline, and remains one of the main attractions of the Township. Recreational skiing, boating, and jet skis fill the lake from early May thru Labor Day. Not only does the Township have this wonderful lake, but they also lay claim to Wayne Counties largest “Splash Pad” with a total footprint of 6,359 square feet! Other Township Services include a Senior Center, Parks and Recreation facilities and activates. vanburen-mi.org/

The Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce represents 3 communities; Van Buren & Sumpter Township, and the City of Belleville. Each of the communities has their own uniqueness, and it is fair to say, there is nowhere else in Wayne County where you would want to “Live, Work, and Play”. This community is a wide mix of residential, business, and rural areas, and at the very center of it is Wayne County’s only inland lake.

Belleville, nestled in the center of this region, is filled with tree lined streets, and traditional downtown area that is still growing. The City is expecting a number of new businesses to be opened in 2020 with a new development on Main Street. The calendar is full with many events from Music at the Lake, WinterFest, Monday Night Car Shows throughout the Summer, and a wide selection of engaging activities.

In addition to the new businesses that are planned, a new District wide Library opened in the first quarter of 2020. This is an exciting time to be living in the area, as we grow responsibly, and enhance the business community. More info on Belleville
Sumpter Township is a quaint rural community of close to 10,000 residents in the southwest corner of Wayne, midway between the urban areas of Ann Arbor and Detroit. It encompasses an area of approximately 37.5 square miles. The community consists of diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and the resident take pride in their surroundings of woodlands, wetlands, prairies and agriculture lands. Roadside stands with fresh farm produce, horseback riding trails at Crosswind Marsh Preserve, a Wayne County Park and abundant wildlife, are all amenities of the “country life” that residents enjoy.

From the Memorial Day Sumpter Country Fest in the Spring, to the Turkey Shoot in the fall, outdoor activities are available for you to enjoy. More info on Sumpter
